Climbing to the Top

My love for rock climbing started when I was 3 years old. I went to friend’s birthday parties at Pump-It-Up and I went straight to the rock-climbing wall. Ever sense I have loved it. After birthday parties, I went to an actual gym and started my training there. My first coach trained me very well and helped me a lot. We played games on the wall such as Find the Penny. She would hide a penny up on a hold on the wall when I wasn’t looking and after she was done, I would have to climb around to try and find it.

I had lots of fun but then I took a break from it. I tried other things such as dance and gymnastics, but I never felt the same passion I had for rock climbing. After a few years, we found a place called Brooklyn Boulders and we started to do it again. I started with the kid’s academy. At first, I wasn’t that good because I had not done it for a long time and when I got some complements, I started with the teen academy. After that, I was starting to pick things up again. I tried out for the team and made it. I have now been on the team for two years and I am enjoying it very much. They work me hard and I have become a lot stronger than what I am now. I do push-ups, pull-ups, and many other things for work outs but the climbing is obviously by far the best. Staying healthy and active is one of the key components to becoming strong and confident in yourself!
